A renowned Crystal Bowl Master, Ashana’s live performances have been called “powerful” and “deeply transformative” and she travels across the US, Canada and abroad offering concerts and sound healing workshops. With her producer, Thomas Barquee (Snatam Kaur, Seal), Ashana has received international acclaim for her CD recordings All Is Forgiven, Jewels of Silence, Beloved and the newly released, The Infinite Heart. Her intuitive and unique vocal improvisations and crystal bowl playing are featured extensively in the documentary film “The Sound You Feel: Vibrations of Healing,” released by Beyond Words.

Music beckoned from an early age. As a young girl growing up in New York City, Ashana began singing sacred music in churches. In the mid-80’s she was drawn to yoga, chanting and kirtan. Classically trained, she spent many years exploring a wide variety of musical genres including jazz, pop, gospel, musical theater as well as composing and teaching children’s music. From ancient to contemporary she immersed herself, graduating with a degree in vocal studies from the Mannes College of Music in New York City. For the last fifteen years, she has been on a deeply personal journey, studying and exploring sound healing and vocal toning. During this period she discovered and began playing quartz crystal singing bowls, instruments that are often used in contemplative practices to support healing, balance and well-being. Ashana is one of just a few musicians in the world to incorporate the bowls in their music and is the first musician to create a musical alchemy that weaves the bowls into vocal and instrumental music.

“It is always my intention that the music holds the highest frequency of light and love – that it is a blessing, a prayer, a healing for others, and that it comes deeply from my heart. For me, singing is a life path, a spiritual journey that has led to the very core of my being,” says Ashana. “Music can transport us, lift us to the place where we gently let go and open completely to receive and remember the divine that lives within each one of us.”

Performer, recording artist, songwriter and teacher, Ashana tours the world with her concerts, workshops and healing sound activation ceremonies.
