Brian Willingham was born and raised in Flint, Michigan, home of the auto industry. Brian served in the U.S. Army for seven years and worked thirteen years as a police officer in the city of Flint. It was through police work that Brian began his into humanitarian, creative, spiritual and metaphysical understanding. Brian is the published author of Soul of a Black Cop, a book in which Brian shares his experiences with race relations and the human suffering had a profound impact on his soul and thrust him into a deeper spiritual and metaphysical understanding. As a result of his work Brian became the only person in Flint history to receive the President’s Volunteer Service award, which he received from President George W. Bush. Brian is also was named a distinguished alumnus of Flint Central High school in the field of Human Rights. Brian has been a guest on national radio programs such as Hay House radio and his work has been featured in publications such as the New York Times. Currently Brian is working to complete his yet untitled memoir and he’s also completing a book/CD to address positive identity building for young men. It was while working as a police officer that Brian encountered an elderly woman whose husband had gone missing for several hours in a dangerous Flint neighborhood. The man went missing at a time when there was a rash of violent crimes had been taking place against the elderly. The situation became more intense when it began storming as Brian took a report from the woman. It was then that Brian noticed something that seemed small, yet too odd to be a coincidence. Brian saw that he had the woman had the same birth date. Not wanting to seem disrespectful Brian didn’t mention it for a while. When he did the woman said to him, “It could be a sign.” At that moment the missing man walked through the door. It was a sign, a sign that there’s always more at work than meets the eye in our lives. Brian who left the Flint police department after thirteen years now lives a life dedicated to the search for something greater as a writer and speaker. Brian can be reached Facebook where he has a personal page and a fan page fop his book Soul of a Black Cop. Videos of his work can also be found at www.youtube Soul Of A Black Cop - Chapter 41.
